The building was built in the 1980’s during an “office boom” in the city. This large office building offered over 3.000m², spread over 7 floors. The original tenants left and the building was left unoccupied. As the location is ideal, the new owners initially requested to demolish the entire building in order to construct a new apartment building.
K2A carefully studied the plans and proposed to keep much of the existing structure. Indeed, this improved significantly it’s overall ecological impact by reducing resource consumption, minimizing waste, improving energy efficiency,… Plus, it was also more economical and minimized the overall planning.
The building was entirely gutted: the structure was left bare, as well as the façades. The new project offers 24 new apartments. As the “shell” of the entire building was newly insulated, each unit is highly efficient.
