The program required the design for a new villa situated on a magnificent plot outside of Brussels. There are no direct neighbours. The site offers an array of views and contrasts: a forest, a meadow, a rolling hill, and off in the distance, a historical castle.
The clients, a young and dynamic couple, avid collectors of modernist furniture and art, wanted a home for their family. Moreover, they wanted a separate apartment annexed to the house.
The proposal places the house strategically in the middle of the property. In a homage to the artist Theo Van Doesburg, the structural walls of the building serve as guidelines to frame the surrounding landscape while attempting to dematerialize the façade of the building, by avoiding a unique homogenous envelope
